I have always enjoyed and appreciated art and have dabbled in different forms and media all my life. In November 2011 I took a class where we painted from photographs, using a style of contour drawing with ink on a base colour and then painting all the dark areas black. Once I’m happy with this two toned composition, then the fun really begins —- playing with colours, using fluid acrylics. (I love colour!) I was hooked on this new style and as I was out enjoying nature I would notice the underlying colour of the landscape or scene. It might seem blue, or grey, or even pink but often if you look just right it’s purple! I was also constantly noticing the shapes of things. Within this style, my painting technique has continued to evolve and I’m excited to see where my explorations take me. I feel so fortunate to do something I LOVE and share my passion with others. I never had enough daytime hours to do what I loved and then I retired from teaching in June 2013. Now I have more time to play and paint!! Opportunities to travel in the last few years have also opened up a world of colour!
