I cannot draw, paint, or sculpt. Quilting, weaving, textiles are beyond my ken. However, there is another approach available to me: algorithmic or generative art, which instead of hands on, is hands on computer keyboards. I have been programming algorithms for decades with a variety of computer languages. In my previous science career, I have always developed code to represent my research visually, whether the data come from mathematics, physics, or radiology. In this new work, my challenge is to create and encode simple rules that implicitly engender a vast space of possibilities to explore. My goal is to translate concepts into algorithms into electrons into ink, and finally, perhaps, into art. I hope you enjoy the images. Thank you.
