When I was 18, I was hiking with my aging golden retriever. We came upon a pond full of aquatic plants and a very large frog. Over the next hour, we dreamed together about a career in photography, with a studio and gallery. Not listening, I embarked on degrees in Environmental Science and Landscape Architecture resulting in an exciting 35+ year career teaching and consulting in design, later as a corporate executive. When I was 60, I became “unexpectedly retired”. By then, a german shepherd puppy had “chosen me”, to remind me of our day at the pond. Since then, my lifelong passion for the natural world and photography has been reinforced in various, sometimes obscure, ways, and over 40 years later, I finally began to listen. I enjoy seeking and seeing, beyond the obvious, to find, hear and capture the stories created by the abstract waiting to be found.
